Whistler Reviews

Transworld is the worldwide number one snowboard magazine and it makes us proud to see that for the fifth year running they have made it transworld resort of the year. This year it was no 1 overall again and in the individual rankings it was also number on efor challenge, vibe and lifts, not a bad selection at all. Heres what they had to say.

"Whistler is a consistent favorite among mountain lovers year after year, and rightly so. It offers pretty much everything you can look for in a mountain resort- insane terrain, parks and pipe, natural untouched beauty, and a booming village with great nightlife to clinch the deal. the resort greets you with overwhelming terrain that spans 8,171 acres, seventeen Alpine bowls, four glaciers, 200 trails, and a one-mile vertical rise."

"Transworld SNOWboarding readers awarded Whistler Blackcomb the No. 1 position following a winter that included record-breaking snowfall totals. Whistler Blackcomb was the only Canadian resort on the list and also received reader accolades for their challenge, lifts, lodging, food and overall vibe."

"Best place to do it all- cliffs, tress, chutes, alpine, parks, longest vert, apres-in one day."

Snowboard Canada Magazine - November 2006

Also in the Nov 06 issue of Snowboard Canada these pros had a lot of good to say about Whistler.

"I have yet to find a place that caters to snow sliders the way that Whistler Blackcomb does - from great powder tree runs to innovative parks that are innovative because they are open-minded enough to listen."

Marc Andre Tarte, Professional Snowboarder

"Nowhere else can you find the variety and amount of accessible terrain than here. From steep tree runs, to some big alpine cliff ares, to a world-class shred park, we got most everything."

Shin Campos, Professional Snowboarder

"It's massive, with every kind of terrain that there is. You can always find your stash and you never get bored of the mountain, ever. There is always a line you can find that you have either never ridden, or haven't been to for years. There just isn't a resort that compares."

Victoria Jealouse, Professional Snowboarder

Whistler Blackcomb is celebrating as king of the mountains with a No. 1 ranking from SKIING Magazine for an unprecedented tenth year in a row. "Why has Whistler Blackcomb dominated our resort poll for ten years running? SKIING readers and the athletes we survey know the skiing kicks ass, that's why," says Marc Peruzzi, Editor-in-Chief of SKIING. "The biggest vertical in North America, tons of advanced terrain, 400-plus inches of snow, and a rowdy party scene doesn't hurt. Whistler Blackcomb goes off."

Skiing Magazine

The ranking from Freeskier Magazine lists Whistler Blackcomb as the No. 1 resort in the Pacific Rim and remains their favourite place to ski overall. "Whistler Blackcomb once again topped our list of the best places to ski because of the unbeatable combination of epic big-mountain terrain, advanced park features and raging nightlife," says Matt Harvey, Senior Editor of Freeskier. "For the first time, we split our resorts into varying regions to give others a chance to shine. But, as we wrote in our 2006/2007 Resort Guide, 'If a guide to the best ski resorts doesn't put Whistler Blackcomb at the top of its list, you can be assured it's bogus.' Whistler Blackcomb is still our favorite place to ski in North America."
